    ABSTRACT OIL PAINTER AND PRINTMAKER
I grew up in Seattle and moved to San Francisco over 40 years ago. I studied art at the University of Washington, and have taken numerous classes and workshops, but the greatest teacher is uncharted time working alone in the studio, analyzing what I make, reflecting, going back to work, coming up with a new vision. My work is abstract; I am fascinated by the interaction of colors and the physical feel and look of paint.
Although oil painting is my main focus, I am also a monotype printmaker. This medium allows me spontaneity, constant surprises, and a focus on design elements. My “Leaf Series” is based upon my walks in Noe Valley, where I often pick up leaves to press and save them. Of course, they eventually found their way into my monotypes!
I have had my studio at the Hunters Point Shipyard for the past 25 years. I am also a member of Nordic 5 Arts, an organization of professional artists of nordic heritage located in the San Francisco Bay Area. That website is www.nordic5arts.com.
